Key Changes to NZ Vaping LawsThe New Zealand Government has amended the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990, aiming to reduce youth access to vaping.Here are the major changes taking effect from June 17, 2025: What’s Changing: • Ban on disposable (single-use) vapes across all retailers • Tighter restrictions on how vaping products are displayed in-store and online • Prohibition of promotions, discounts, and loyalty schemes related to vaping products • Stronger penalties for selling to minors and increased enforcement Are Disposable Vapes Being Banned?Yes. As of June 17, 2025, single-use vaping devices will be prohibited in New Zealand.Devices that will be banned include those that: • Cannot be refilled manually • Do not use replaceable pods or cartridges • Are not rechargeable What’s Still Allowed?Pod-based systems remain legal.
